Meet the Owner

Hey Chapel Hill!

My name is Tyson Greenbaum. I am a full-time student at UNC-Chapel Hill and the founder of Piedmont Trailer Rentals.

I could give two answers to why I started Piedmont. The first (less honest) answer is that I saw a gap in the market for well-maintained, heavy-duty trailers available for rent, and I wanted to take advantage of my background in business development (I ran a detailing business in high school) to fill it. The more honest answer, though, is that I think trailers are awesome. Growing up, as soon as I was tall enough to reach the pedals of my grandfather's lawn mower, I was out in the field practicing backing up his trailer. I enjoy outfitting them, performing maintenance on them, driving them — trailers have just always felt like toys to me.

Fast forward to early 2026, I had the opportunity to turn my passion into a business. I spent months researching, viewing, and testing different brands of trailers until I found Lamar. Their build quality sold me — plus, just look at that beautiful color. I spent the next few months outfitting my first car hauler with a 12K lb. winch, a tongue box, a battery, and all of the accessories a renter might need.

That's how Piedmont Trailer Rentals came to life — a contactless rental service here in Chapel Hill, so anyone has access to trailers that are always ready to go, wherever you need to take them.
